Propose a Special Issue
Journal of New Developments in Chemistry welcomes proposals for focused collections that address important questions in the chemical sciences. Researchers with relevant expertise are invited to review the proposal requirements and contact the editorial office.
Scientific proposal
A proposal should define the chemical question, explain why a coordinated collection is useful, identify the intended research community and show how the theme fits JNDC's Aims and Scope.
Information to provide
- Proposed title and concise scientific rationale
- Scope, boundaries and expected article types
- Guest editor name, current affiliation, relevant expertise and ORCID iD
- Indicative contributors, where known, without promises of acceptance
- A proposed schedule for editorial assessment
Start with the scope
Special Issue proposals must remain centered on a chemical question, method, material, measurement or molecular-level explanation.
Guest-editor responsibilities
A Special Issue is not opened until a named guest editor has been reviewed and the collection has an agreed scholarly remit.
Conflicts and recusal
Declare relevant interests. A guest editor does not handle the guest editor's own submission or a manuscript where an impartial decision could be questioned.
Communication
Use accurate, non-promotional calls, avoid promises about acceptance or timing and keep authors informed through the journal's approved workflow.
Editorial safeguards
Special Issue manuscripts follow the same standards as regular submissions.
Peer review: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. A proposal, invitation or guest-editor relationship does not confer an advantage in review or acceptance.
