Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Payment status and fee discussions do not influence peer review or acceptance.

What the APC supports

The APC supports publication services provided after and around editorial assessment; it does not purchase a favorable editorial outcome.

Editorial and review administration

Submission checks, manuscript tracking, reviewer correspondence and editorial workflow administration.

Production

Copyediting, typesetting, quality checks and preparation of the publication formats.

Identification and metadata

DOI registration where applicable and distribution of article metadata through publisher systems and OAI-PMH.

Open access publication

Online publication and hosting of the final article formats for readers without a subscription charge.

Peer review

Peer review: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.

Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Billing and fee-relief inquiries

The editorial office can clarify invoices, institutional payment and the student rate before an author commits to a submission route.

Payment

An invoice is issued after formal acceptance. Payment may be arranged by the author, institution or funder using the options stated on the invoice.

Taxes and institutional requirements

Any applicable tax, purchase-order or institutional invoicing requirement should be raised with the billing team before payment.

Fee questions

Authors who need to discuss the student rate or other approved fee-relief terms should contact the editorial office before submitting. No fee arrangement confers an advantage in review or acceptance.

Withdrawal policy

Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.

Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.

Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC.

Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.

Review the requirements before submission

Confirm manuscript fit and preparation requirements before choosing one approved submission route.
