Journal of Clinical Case Reports and ImagesArticle Processing Charges
Article processing charges
The current JCCI fees, when they apply, what they cover, and the withdrawal and payment terms.
Current fee schedule
| Category | APC | Eligibility note |
|---|---|---|
| Regular submission | USD 1,440 | Applied after editorial acceptance. |
| Student or trainee | USD 900 | Supervisor recommendation and institutional verification are required. |
There is no submission fee. A rejected manuscript does not incur an APC.
The charge applies only after acceptance
The editorial decision is completed before the APC is invoiced. The acceptance notice supplies payment instructions and can be accompanied by an institutional invoice where required.
Ability to pay, payment status, membership, a discount or a waiver request does not affect editor assignment, reviewer selection, the review outcome or the acceptance decision.
What the APC covers
- Editorial workflow
- Submission checks, editor assignment, peer-review administration and decision correspondence. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
- Production
- Copyediting, typesetting, proof preparation and publication in accessible web and PDF formats.
- Clinical figures
- Technical checks for image quality, labeling and production readiness; scientific interpretation remains the authors' and reviewers' responsibility.
- Publication record
- Metadata preparation, Crossref DOI registration for the published article and online hosting.
- Open access
- Immediate access under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, with authors retaining copyright.
Payment and additional charges
The APC is a single publication charge. The current policy lists no separate submission, page, color-figure or supplementary-material fee. Payment may be made through PayPal; authors requiring bank-transfer instructions or institutional documentation should contact [email protected].
Questions about tax treatment, banking charges or invoice format should be resolved with the accounts team before payment rather than inferred from the headline APC.
Waiver and discount requests
Partial waivers or discounts may be considered case by case against documented circumstances and available support. They are not automatic or guaranteed. Contact the editorial office for fee-relief inquiries and the applicable terms.
Editorial staff and reviewers do not use the request when assessing scientific or clinical merit. A waiver neither improves nor reduces the prospect of acceptance.
Withdrawal policy
Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC.
Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
The withdrawal charge is distinct from an APC invoiced after editorial acceptance. Contact the editorial office at [email protected] for withdrawal confirmation and [email protected] for invoice questions.
Review the requirements before submission
The APC is invoiced after acceptance. The withdrawal terms above apply separately. Review both before submission.
