Identifiers and services

The journal's infrastructure supports identification, citation and metadata exchange. Coverage in an external search product remains subject to that service's own collection and crawling practices.

ISSN

Journal identifier

ISSN 2471-2140 identifies the electronic journal. An ISSN is a serial identifier, not an indexing or quality rating.

Crossref

DOI registration

Published articles receive Crossref DOI registration under prefix 10.14302 with associated citation metadata. A DOI provides a persistent identifier; it is not evidence of selective-index inclusion.

OAI-PMH

Metadata harvesting

The publisher supports OAI-PMH metadata harvesting. Availability through the protocol does not confirm that a particular external service has harvested every record.

Google Scholar

Coverage may vary

Journal content is available for scholarly web discovery, but Google Scholar controls its own crawling and inclusion. Individual-record coverage should be checked in that service.

Digital preservation

This journal’s content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive run by ITHAKA (the organization behind JSTOR). As articles are deposited they enter Portico’s permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish.

PubMed Central deposit clarification

Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS). Individual manuscript deposit does not establish journal-level inclusion in PubMed, MEDLINE or the PubMed Central Journal List.

How the metadata pathway works

1. The final article record is prepared with its title, authors, affiliations, dates and references.
2. A DOI and citation metadata are registered with Crossref after publication.
3. Metadata can be exposed for harvesting through the publisher's OAI-PMH service.
4. External discovery services decide whether and when to crawl, process and display a record.

What authors should verify

Accurate source metadata supports reliable identification and citation. During proof review, authors should check the record against the accepted manuscript.

• Author names, order, affiliations and available ORCID iDs
• Funding sources, grant numbers and competing-interest disclosures
• Article title, abstract and subject-specific keywords
• Dataset or repository identifiers where they form part of the study record
• References and DOI links where available
